Privacy policy

Your climbing.
Your information.

Sender is operated by Sporty Shiba, Inc. This policy explains what information we collect through the Sender app and sendr.club, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Effective date: [to be set at publication]

1. Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address and password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we cannot read them.
  • Profile details: username, display name, first and last name, profile photo, bio, height, ape index and grade-system preference.
  • Climbing content: videos (including their audio) and thumbnails, sessions, attempts, grades, sends, gyms you choose and anything you write about them.
  • Community activity: comments, likes, follows, follow requests, blocks and reports.
  • Messages to us: what you send to support@sendr.club, including reports and requests about your information.

2. Information collected automatically

  • Usage events: actions in the app, such as opening a screen or publishing a session. These are linked to your account ID, email address and username.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: device model, operating system, app version and error details when something breaks. Crash reports do not include screenshots.
  • Push notification token: if you allow notifications, so we can deliver them.
  • Approximate location: only when you search for a gym and allow location access. We round it to about 1 km and send it to our maps provider to show nearby gyms first. We do not save it to your profile or show it to anyone.
  • Technical logs: IP address and request logs kept by our hosting providers for security and reliability.
  • Website: sendr.club uses only the cookies needed to run the site. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not show advertising.

3. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account, sign you in and send account emails, such as confirmation and password reset.
  • To store, process and display your sessions and videos, including making thumbnails and playable versions.
  • To run community features: profiles, follows, comments, likes and notifications.
  • To keep Sender safe: moderating content before and after it is published, handling reports and investigating abuse (section 5).
  • To understand how Sender performs, fix bugs and plan improvements.
  • To develop and improve Sender’s video features, including training models (section 4).
  • To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

4. Your videos and Sender’s video models

We use videos from public sessions to develop and improve features such as automatic trimming and keeping the climber in frame.

  • Your choice. This setting is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Help improve video features, and Sender works the same either way. If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, it starts off and we use your videos only if you turn it on.
  • Which videos. Only videos in sessions you have made public, including public sessions posted before you turned the setting on. Videos in private sessions, followers-only sessions or private accounts are never used.
  • What we remove. Before use, we remove the audio track, your account ID, username, captions, comments and file metadata such as GPS location. We keep a separate, access-restricted record linking each training copy to its source video, used only to find and delete copies when required.
  • We do not identify people. We never use training videos to identify, recognize or profile anyone. We do not use facial recognition and do not create face or other biometric templates. The models learn climbing movement, such as when a climb starts and ends.
  • Where it happens. Training copies are stored and processed only in cloud accounts controlled by Sporty Shiba, Inc., and only people working for Sender under written confidentiality obligations can access them. We do not sell training copies or give them to other companies or third-party AI services to train their models.

A video can still show someone’s face or body, so we treat training copies as personal information.

Stopping and deletion. When you turn the setting off, delete a video, make a session non-public or request account deletion, we stop using the affected videos for training right away and delete their training copies within 30 days of that request. Models trained before your request are not retrained. They are built to detect climbing movement, not to store or reproduce individual videos. This does not limit any right you have under the law where you live.

People in other users’ videos. If you appear in someone else’s video, email support@sendr.club with a link to the session. We will exclude it from training, and remove it from Sender if it breaks our rules.

5. Content moderation

To keep Sender safe, content you post is checked by automated moderation, and by people when needed. This is a condition of posting on Sender.

  • What is checked: the text of comments, and frames sampled from videos you post. [Profile photos and bios — confirm.]
  • Who checks it: our automated checks use OpenAI’s moderation service. OpenAI processes this content only to return a moderation result to us. Under OpenAI’s API terms, it does not use this data to train its models; it may keep it for a limited time to monitor for abuse.
  • Before publishing: videos are published only after they pass this check. Content that fails may be held for review, hidden or removed.

If you do not want your content moderated this way, do not post it. You can still record and keep videos in sessions that are not public.

6. What other people can see

  • Public profile: your username, display name, profile photo, bio and climbing stats, such as followers, sessions and hardest grade.
  • Your sessions and videos: shown according to the visibility you choose. If your account is private, only followers you approve can see your sessions.
  • Comments and likes: visible to people who can see the session they are on.

Visibility settings control what other users see. Authorized Sender staff and the service providers in section 7 may still process private content as described in this policy, for example to store it, deliver it to you or review a report.

7. How we share information

We share information in these ways only:

  • With other users, as described in section 6.
  • With service providers that run parts of Sender for us. Each may use it only to provide its service to us, and each is required to protect it with the same or equal care as this policy describes.
  • For legal and safety reasons, when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or to investigate fraud or abuse.
  • In a business transfer, if Sender is involved in a merger or acquisition. The new owner must follow this policy.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

8. Device permissions

  • Camera and microphone: to record climbing videos.
  • Photo library: to choose a profile photo and save videos you keep.
  • Location (while using the app): to show gyms near you when you search.
  • Notifications: to tell you about follows, comments and other activity.

You can change these at any time in iOS Settings. Sender keeps working without location or notifications.

9. Keeping and deleting information

Deleting content. You can delete videos and sessions at any time. They are removed from Sender right away and from our storage within 30 days.

Deleting your account. Start in Settings → Account → Delete account. When you confirm:

  • Right away: your profile, sessions, videos and comments are hidden from other people; your push notification tokens are deleted; and your videos stop being used for training.
  • During the next 30 days: you can cancel by signing in and choosing Restore my account. Signing in alone does not cancel deletion.
  • After 30 days: deletion completes automatically. We delete your account, profile, videos, sessions, comments, likes and follows from our systems.

10. Your choices and rights

  • See and correct: edit your profile in the app, or ask us for a copy of your information.
  • Delete: delete content or your account in the app, or ask us by email.
  • Withdraw consent or object: turn off “Help improve video features”, turn off location or notifications in iOS Settings, or email us to object to any other use.

Depending on where you live, including California, the EEA and the UK, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to complain to a data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

How to ask: email support@sendr.club from your account email. If you can no longer access that email, or you are asking about a video someone else posted, tell us and we will verify your request another reasonable way.

When we reply: within one month for requests under EEA or UK law, and within 45 days for requests under California law. Where the law allows, we may extend these periods for complex requests and will tell you why.

12. International transfers

Sender is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the US and other countries. For transfers from the EEA or UK, we rely on our providers’ data processing terms, including standard contractual clauses where required. Email us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.

13. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and server-side permission checks to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

14. Age

You must be at least 16 to use Sender. Sender is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

15. Changes to this policy

We will post updates here and change the effective date. For material changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. We will not apply a materially broader use to information we already hold without your consent where the law requires it.
